Insurance Coverage Details
- Coverage Amount: Insurance of $75 provides protection for cargo valued up to $2,499 (less the deductible).
- Deductible: The payout will not exceed $2,499, with the deductible applied.
- Claim Eligibility: Damage or loss must be reported at the time of cargo receipt, before the items are taken home.
Requirements for Filing a Claim
To process a claim, customers must provide the following documentation:
1. Proof of Purchase or Value
- Original Store Receipts or Purchase Receipts for all claimed items.
- If the items are not new and receipts are unavailable, a Repair Estimate from a company specializing in cleaning or repairs is acceptable. The estimate must be on the company’s official letterhead.
2. Shipment Documentation
- Pictures of the damaged items.
- Packing List detailing all items included in the shipment.
- Declared Value provided at the start of the transaction.
3. Damage Reporting Process
- Report Any Damage Immediately upon signing for the cargo.
- Damage Report from the Destination Agent: A report from the handling agent at the port in the Caribbean is required for all claims.
- Once the cargo is signed for and the individual leaves the wharf, insurance coverage ends. However, Caribbean Cargo DC is willing to review claims internally on a case-by-case basis.
