DMV-SVG Mutual Aid is a group of Returned Peace Corps Volunteers and concerned citizens in the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area who work cooperatively with government and charitable organizations in the small island county of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to provide food, clothing, school supplies, and other needed items to Vincentian children and families. Last year, after the devastation left behind by the eruption of the La Soufriere volcano, DMV-SVG Mutual Aid mobilized efforts in the DMV area to collect and send 20 barrels of food, clothing, personal protective equipment, and many other needed items to support Vincentian families who were displaced.
This year, as families in the northern areas of Saint Vincent, are still resettling into their homes, DMV-SVG focuses its efforts on collecting school supplies and teaching aids to relieve families of the burden of having to purchase essential school items and to make sure children and teachers in Saint Vincent are ready to learn in the new school year. DMV-SVG believes the DC, Maryland, and Virginia communities will support this cause even more than they did last year! DMV-SVG thanks donors for their generous donations and encourages all to follow them on: Facebook at “DMV-SVG Mutual Aid Relief” and Instagram @Dmvsvgrelief.
