Caribbean Cargo DC Founder Royston DeSouza Recognized During Caribbean-American Heritage Month
Caribbean Cargo DC is proud to share that Founder and CEO Royston DeSouza was recently spotlighted by the Caribbean-American Political Action Committee, C-PAC, during Caribbean-American Heritage Month.
The feature, titled “Royston DeSouza: The Caribbean Man Who Built Bridges,” recognizes Royston’s lifetime of leadership, entrepreneurship, and service to the Caribbean community throughout the Washington metropolitan area.
For Caribbean Cargo DC, this recognition is especially meaningful because it reflects the heart of the company’s work: helping families, businesses, embassies, churches, nonprofit organizations, and community partners stay connected to the Caribbean.
A Legacy Rooted in Connection
Born in Guyana, Royston DeSouza arrived in Washington, D.C. in 1969 and went on to build a remarkable career in the region. Before founding Caribbean Cargo DC, he spent 34 years at The Washington Post, where he rose to Director of Sales and Marketing.
He also founded Kaieteur Restaurant and Nightclub on Georgia Avenue, which became a beloved gathering place for Caribbean people throughout the Washington area. For many, Kaieteur was more than a restaurant. It was a space for culture, celebration, conversation, and community.
That same spirit of connection would later inspire the work of Caribbean Cargo DC.
Serving the Caribbean Diaspora Since 2007
Founded in 2007, Caribbean Cargo DC provides export shipping and freight forwarding services from the Mid-Atlantic to the Caribbean, Central America, and South America.
The company supports customers with shipments that may include household goods, barrels, appliances, vehicles, machinery, equipment, and commercial cargo. CCDC also works with families, businesses, embassies, community organizations, and humanitarian partners that rely on dependable shipping services throughout the region.
For many customers, shipping is personal. It may mean sending goods to loved ones back home, preparing for relocation, supporting a business, helping a community organization, or moving essential items during hurricane season.
That is why Caribbean Cargo DC remains committed to service, reliability, and care.
The C-PAC feature describes Royston DeSouza as a man who built bridges. For Caribbean Cargo DC, that message continues to guide the company’s work today.
CCDC is honored to serve as a trusted bridge between the DMV, the Mid-Atlantic, and the Caribbean. Every shipment represents more than cargo. It represents family, culture, responsibility, and connection.
We extend our appreciation to C-PAC for recognizing Royston’s story and to the customers, partners, and Caribbean community members who continue to be part of the Caribbean Cargo DC journey.
